SMBC Winter Golf Outing
February 28, 2026
The SMBC Third Annual Winter Golf Outing will be held at Peridia Golf & Country Club, a premier executive 18-hole golf course. The event was created to promote a fun activity where club members can get to know each other while off their bicycles.
Everyone should arrive approximately 30 minutes before our first tee time which is at approximately 1:00 PM. Appropriate golf attire is required – collared shirts, no denim, and no tank tops. Please arrive by 12:30 PM and go to the Pro Shop.
Our event will include fun tournament events. All scores and score keeping will be done using the honor system. Most men should be teeing off from the BLUE tees or if over age 79, the GOLD tees. Women should be using the RED tees or as appropriate. Everyone should use the same tee boxes throughout the entire round.
Also NOTE:
· Balls OFF the greens may be rolled up to one foot from any location except in the sand traps.
· “Gimmee putts” are allowed from less than one foot from the pin.
· There will be others playing behind us, so everyone should try to keep up with the group ahead of them.
Events:
· 4 closest to the hole par 3s for men and for women, hole #4, #8, #12, #16
· 2 longest drive holes for men and for women on #10 and #18
· Team (foursome) winners for front 9, back 9 and overall scores using the best two individual scores on each team.
OVERALL WINNERS: Each team (foursome) should keep each player’s scores on one scorecard. In the fifth row, add the two lowest scores (of the four) for each hole (EX: Player 1 shot 5, 2 shot 4, 3 shot 3 and 4 shot 5 – enter 7 score in 5th row for a 3+4). When finished total scores for individuals and the fifth row should be added up across. Once all cards have been turned in, winners for the front 9, back 9, and total will be announced.
CLOSEST TO THE PIN: (holes #4, #8, #12 and #16):
A stake with a card on it will be placed by Peridia just off each green; one for men and one for women. For each team, after hitting, if someone is closest to the pin after their first shot and is closer to the pin than the stake and card, please enter the name of the person who hit that shot on the card and move the stake and card to that spot. If it is too close to eyeball, measure either with a golf club or by using the flag stick. Only balls on the green are allowed to be considered. The last team will pick up the stakes and cards after they finish each of the holes.
LONGEST DRIVE: (HOLES #10, #18): Longest drives must be in the fairway, not the rough. Peridia will place two stakes and name cards in the fairway with one being for men and one being for women. Anyone hitting a ball farther than the appropriate stake should verify the distance visually and if close, use a rangefinder or second individual to decide. If farther, move the stake and put your name on the card. The last team will pick up the stakes and cards.
POST ROUND – Everyone is invited to gather at the Tiki Bar after the event to see who the winners are and to have beverages and/or snacks. We will be announcing the winners, taking photos, and distributing prizes at the Tiki Bar.
Note: This event is primarily for SMBC members, however, each member may invite one guest. If registration for the 24 slots available are not filled by February 16 th , then the remaining slots will be made available for additional member guests.
